“I'm of the firm belief that not all gamers out there are stereotypical white pasty nerds with zero social skills. Far from it, the majority of passionate gamers I hang out with are the exact same people you would find out at the local clubs or dingy dodgy pubs along with the types who would usually look down on 'gamers'.”

australian gamer profile: Oracle

Nickname: Oracle
Real Name: Rowan Beard
Xbox Live: OracleAG
PSN Code:
Wii Friend: 8277 0202 3341 2113
Occupation: IT Insurance Liaison Officer
City/State: Sydney, New South Wales

Oracle is well known as the crowd pleaser. No matter where he is or who he's with, he is always bound to find some fun out of the situation. Brought up from the very early SNES ages his parents fought for his gaming addiction, needless to say it was as pointless as Sony's UMD (ouch). Oracle was born and bred up in sunny Brisbane but has recently moved down to Sydney to get a cushy job, oh and for his fiance too. If Oracle is not playing a game, he's talking about it. If you ever want to catch up with him he'll most likely be on Xbox Live.

What is your most memorable gaming experience?
Playing Super Mario 64 for the first time, I remember being overwhelmed with joy that I was playing a 3D Mario with an analogue stick (the future is here!). I was even happier when I finished the game knowing it was an instant classic.

Where would you be found on a typical Friday night?
At the local drinking hole with some mates or on Xbox Live.

What is your favourite movie?
Kung Fu Hustle, the movie has everything I love.

What is your favourite food?
A big T-bone steak with some chips

What is your favourite drink?
Milo, that's for you Fleeek.

What are your favourite 5 games of all time, and why?
  • Zelda Ocarina of Time : I believe this to be Miyamoto’s best developed game. Immersed storyline, extremely well developed characters, unforgettable gameplay, and it even made me cry with joy at the end.
  • Super Mario 64 : Defiantly the most memorable game for being the first 3D adventure platform I played. Rescue the princess storyline, but with the most addictive gameplay even to today’s standards.
  • Banjo Kazooie : The characters and the storyline of this game was very cute. But you wouldn’t expect so much fun from this title. Some very unique ideas got thrown into Banjo Kazooie and I still believe that this was Rare’s finest game developed to date.
  • Resident Evil 4 : This game packs hardcore. Sexy characters (Leon, *growls*), A cheesy yet fantastic storyline, beautiful graphics, very suitable sound effects with a little pinch of the most addictive, awesomeness, hardcore gameplay thrown into it. Capcom’s finest game, ever.
  • Gears of War : This game kicked some serious ass. With bleeding edge visuals, very addictive online gameplay and a brilliant single/co-op story mode this game defiantly makes my top 5. Plus I would turn gay for Dominique.
