For those of you scratching your heads, Sadie is a gamer based in Los Angeles in a country called the United States of.. something. Anyway, during her spare time she puts together her own little show called Sadie’s Gaming Infection and uploads it to YouTube. Sadie’s main objective is to give the viewers her first impressions of the game whether it’s great, bad or just unplayable.
What makes Sadie stand out from the crowd is her screams of annoyance and sarcastic pay outs as she plays through an array of user friendly and user not so friendly games. When there are aspects of games she likes she’ll tell you what they are in her own quirky way, making for a very amusing out look on the gaming scene . For those of you who haven’t experienced Dr Sadie’s remedies for gaming addiction she is not to unlike the video game nerd, but don’t tell her I said that…she’d beat me.
Over the last year Sadie has completed 9 episodes including seven from her previous series, Sadie’s Late Night Gaming. Episode 1 of "Sadie’s Gaming Infection" got a staggering 250,000+ hits during the first week, that’s more than the total population of that crappy city in the Northern Territory… Darwin, right?
I’d like to personally thank Sadie for her time and I hope you all enjoy the interview below as well as her videos which you can check out
here. Feel free to leave her a comment on our forums or on her YouTube profile, who knows.. you might get a personal reply back. Enjoy!
Oracle: What got you into video games?
Sadie: I guess it's all because of my dad and oldest brother whom both play games. I remember playing street fighter with my brother and stuff, I just remember thinking "MAN this is so fun!"
Oracle: If it wasn’t for your family, would you have found you’re way into the video gaming light?
Sadie: I grew up playing video games, I can't imagine my life with out them!
Oracle: Were you addicted to video games from your first play or did it slowly grow on you?
Sadie: I'd say I was always addicted, I always had a Game Boy or NES or something in my room to play.
Oracle: That might answer my next question, what was your first video game console?
Sadie: Well, when my dad went overseas he came back with a game boy for my older brother, I was sooo jealous! So I begged him to bring me one and on his next trip he did! My older bro put some stickers from Nintendo Power on it that said "Game Girl" Nerrrrd, I know!
Oracle: Who came up for the idea for your first show ‘Sadie’s Late Night Gaming’?
Sadie: Sadie has always been late night gaming... just not with a camera. There isn’t a whole lot of idea to it…just puuuuure Sadie.
Oracle: Were you down and dirty with the idea of doing a show or a bit hesitant at first?
Sadie: Hesitant, definitely.
Oracle: Wimp.
Sadie: I mean... who really cares about what I have to say, I'm just talking as I play
Oracle: Was YouTube a huge influence for you to do the show?
Sadie: YES, no YouTube = no Sadie’s Game Infection
Oracle: During your first few episodes, did you feel awkward admitting your first impressions about the game on camera?
Sadie: Nope! Just being honest.
Oracle: We all know that Sadie loves to greatly criticize a game when she doesn’t find one appealing, have you ever thought of the developer’s feelings? Have you no soul?
Sadie: GEEZ! I mean, they should be thinking the same things I am when I’m giving my first impressions.. and that's what’s important. Besides shouldn’t they be keeping my feelings in mind when they are developing them?
Oracle: You’ve recently changed your shows name to Sadie’s Gaming Infection after 7 episodes of SLNG, will the show be heading in a new direction?
Sadie: Probably not... the whole doctor thing has a lot to work with and it's a different approach to reviews, so I'm gonna keep the infection alive.
Oracle: Episode 1 of Sadie’s Gaming Infection was recently released with over 257,000 hits within the first week. How did that make you feel?
Sadie: AWESOME!!!!! Dude, it was totally awesome, yo.
Oracle: Who gets to decide which game you should review next?
Sadie: At first I just picked the games that I owned but hadn’t played yet. Then I asked for the viewers to send in suggestions! So Red Faction was some viewers fault, haha!
Oracle: Oh! Oh! If that’s so… would you consider doing a Guitar Hero review just for meeeeee?
Sadie: Yeah, if you send me $80 and some guitar skills.
Oracle: Most viewers want to know will you ever move onto current consoles to review games?
Sadie: Maybe, as I see fit
Oracle: What types of audiences would you think your show attracts? Is it:
- Gamers in general
- Girl gamers
- YouTube trolls
- Horny Nerds with Net Nanny enabled
- All of the above?
Sadie: E, I have gotten messages from all of the above!
Oracle: Would you describe yourself as a hardcore or casual gamer and what proof do you have?
Sadie: Somewhere in between, I am very passionate about gaming but I'm a lazy cat. My proof I guess would be my many memory cards. They are my children.
Oracle: What are your comments about being a girl gamer in this day and age?
Sadie: It's tough! Male gamers don't respect female gamers and non-gamer girls find girl gamers lame... so we can’t win…but we can pwn
Oracle: Do you think that girl gamers are on the rise?
Sadie: I think gamers in general are on the rise, so I hope women get caught up in tide.
Oracle: What are your thoughts on Jack Thompson? Would you agree that he is a douche bag with no cause?
Sadie: FUCK YEAH, I want to rip him in half, I’d pwn him in any game, Babality!
Oracle: Australia is currently undergoing a crisis with a lack of an Adult Only 18+ rating for our video game rating system which simply means a ban on all AO games within Australia. What are your thoughts on this?
Sadie: Ridiculous. Video games are an art form and art should not be censored. Besides there are far worse movies, I’m sure, that anyone can access. The problem is who has access to them. Fix the problem don’t avoid it!
Oracle: Do you find a game more appealing when you are given the choice to play as either male of female character?
Sadie: Yes! It’s nice to have a have a choice, but I don't dislike games that don't have that choice.
Oracle: Given that option, would you always choose female?
Sadie: No, I like the big burly men.
Oracle: Do you have a favourite video game hero or heroin?
Sadie: Solid Snake!
Oracle: What is your most beloved console and what is your favourite game of all time?
Sadie: Final Fantasy 6, that’s right 6! There are so many characters and Kefka was awesome. I also liked that you were able to raise levels one person at a time, I thought that was fantastic. Also every character had depth. Such a very good game
Oracle: What genre do you most enjoy? RPG, Action, FPS?
Sadie: I’d hate to be a typical girl... but RPG. The story is the best part! It’s easier to and be absorbed into a game when the story is good, not like, "there's aliens, go kill em"
Oracle: Have you ever been to a midnight launch for a console or a game?
Sadie: Nope! The nerdiest thing I did was camp out for Star Wars Episode 3, it was a once in a lifetime chance ya know?
Oracle: Nerd. Would you ever consider going to a video game launch night?
Sadie: Yes, seems like a lot of fun!
Oracle: Which game?
Sadie: Metal Gear Solid 4!
Oracle: What is your favourite console for this current generation, PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii and why?
Sadie: The 360 because the Wii doesn't have enough decent games and Sony fucked themselves over.
Oracle: I’ve got another multiple question for you if that’s ok? If you were standing in line for the PS3 launch back in November ’06 would you:
- Get they’re early and camp outside for the next 3 weeks
- Dress up as a giant Wiimote and make fun of the PS3
- Shoot someone over a PS3
- Purchase the PS3 that night and sell it over eBay for 3 times the price and justify your sale by putting a picture of yourself on the page of you hiding behind the console box naked. Like these girls.
- All of the above
Sadie: None of the above!
Oracle: You’ve gotta choose one.
Sadie: C
Oracle: *steps back* ... Do you like Nintendo’s new approach for making both the DS and Wii appealing to ‘all audiences’?
Sadie: Kinda sorta, it's good as long as they are thinking about all kinds of gamers but they are alienating the hardcore gamers at the same time by not making games for them
Oracle: Word. Do you think they’re doing it to pick up chicks or old farts?
Sadie: I think they are doing it to attract every kind of person.... that has a lot of cash to blow
Oracle: Kinky. Do you agree that the Xbox 360 attracts more males than females or family? If so why?
Sadie: Probably because it's mostly sports and FPS games that are not appealing to everyone.
Oracle: Have you got anything to say to all the Australian Female Gamers out there?
Sadie: More power to you! There’s nothing wrong with being a girl, and loving games.
Oracle: Thank you for your time Ms Sadie but before we finish up, I have one last question! Out of your 1600+ subscribers, who was your second subscriber ever?
Sadie: I dunno, some loser named "oracle29"
Oracle: Burn.
