Welcome to Australian Gamer's Biggest WiiFit Loser!

This is a show about a couple of your favourite Australian Gamer personalities and their quest to work off a few of those extra pounds gained while bringing you some of the best video game reviews on the web. Some of your favourite Australian Gamer Team members will be toughing it out with Nintenodo's latest peripheral the Wii Balance Board.

Tonight we focus on Cav.

Cav is a 33 year old Victorian male, who does very little exercise other than walking to his workplace canteen and back each day from his desk job. He has a set of Golf Clubs which he got as a gift for his 30th birthday, but they have only seen the fairways no more than 15 times. If he goes to the pool, he spends a majority of the time in the kiddies pool with the youngest of his three children. For his age and height, which is 181cm, the WiiFit system has classed Cav as overweight.

"I've been on this for 23 days. Not only have I been trying to use the WiiFit board for at least half an hour a day, but I have also changed my diet: No alcohol, no soft drinks, no coffee, no take away with the exception of Subway (without cheeses or sauces), avoid fried foods, no margarine on bread, switch to wholemeal bread, no desserts, no chocolate bars. I'm actually making an effort to have breakfast every morning. Ask my family: they'll tell you I am a real joy to live with! I think the worst things I have had are a Caesar Salad and a small slice of Carrot Cake"

Here are Cav's WiiFit Starting Stats:

BMI: 27.62
Weight: 90.5kg
WiiFit Age: 35

After 23 Days on the AG's Biggest WiiFit Loser Program

BMI: 27.23
Weight: 89.2kg
WiiFit Age: 41

Cav's WiiFit Target is as follows:

BMI: 26.4
Weight: 86.5kg
WiiFit Age: 33

"I don't really hold much to the WiiFit Age, as it is only based on your age and two small tests. One day I has 27 and the next I was 41! How the hell does that work? I am enjoying that Balance games more than any of the others. The Ski Jump is a real winner where my best total jump is 334m meters! The WiiFit thinks I should be 77 kilos, to be at my optimal weight .... 77kilos? You could lather me in Kiwi Boot Polish and have me star in a World Vision commercial at that size!"

We also focus on Jae.

Jae is a 25 year old boy from sunny WA with a recent migration to not-so-sunny NSW. Jae has the luxury of being a gym instructor with a Personal Training degree under his fit 32” belt. Jae has a routine of exercise at the gym; a minimum of 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weights 3 times a week. WiiFit tells Jae he is ideal at a BMI of 24.16 although recommends that he loses about 4 kilos to reach the optimum BMI of 22. What ever.

“Being a so-called fitness professional BMI is an inaccurate measurement of fitness.”, says Jae defending his higher than average BMI. “Ok so I’ve not played WiiFit everyday, but I’ve kept to my minimum standards of an average of 15 minutes a day and at least 1 of each of the 4 exercise groups in WiiFit (Yoga, Balance, Cardio and Weight resistance). I’ve not changed my diet: Soup, Salad or Subway lunches 5 times a week, eating out max twice a week and the occasional drinking binge. Oh and I don’t snack at work. Unlike my colleague Cav I’m not making such a large effort on the food side of fitness but more towards the consistency of my exercise regime. With the amount of exercise I do I shouldn’t be losing weight, but rather toning what I currently have.”

Here are Jae's WiiFit Starting Stats:

BMI: 24.16
Weight: 83kg
WiiFit Age: 28

After 24 Days on the AG's Biggest WiiFit Loser Program

BMI: 24.00
Weight: 83.2kg
WiiFit Age: 26

Jae's WiiFit Target is as follows:

BMI: 24.00 (stuff you WiiFit I ain’t changing)
Weight: 83kg
WiiFit Age: under 25

Jae’s REAL life goals:

Get a tone body all round and get people to stop buying into weight loss quick fixes. Go see a professional.

”The first time I ever played WiiFit it told me I was at a fit age of 22. Now a days its being truthful to my actual age. It knows me well. My favourite game so far is the balance game where you tip the platform so that the Mii character balls fall into hole. My least favourite is the jogging game as it doesn’t use the WiiFit Balance Board and it tells me I suck at jogging. I doubt I’ll lose weight on this game but I can definitely gain confidence that this won’t replace the need for my occupation! That push up game is lame. It should be 50 push ups each time!”
