I can never finish a review of World of Warcraft.
It's not that I couldn't give it a rating myself, based on my personal experiences. After all, that is practically all my reviews are. No, it's that when I review a game, I do so when I finish it. When I have completed it. When I have beat it. I can't see myself ever actually finishing this game, and therefore, a review of it either.
With that in mind, I've decided to chronicle my game play experiences instead. Think of this as a review/diary. Before I get started however, for anyone not familiar with World of Warcraft, a quick explanation is in order.
World of Warcraft is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) created and designed by Blizzard. It is set in the 'Warcraft 3' universe, and takes the same themes and character classes from that game. If you have never played a MMORPG before, then think of it like a massive world in which there are thousands of other players just like you, out to progress through the game on their own or by grouping together. There is the social element to the game, where you can chat, emote, trade and even dance with other real people; and there is the game element where you progress through various quests to gain new armour, weapons, skills and increase your characters level.
World of Warcraft was actually
released in 2004, and has seen numerous updates and expansions happen in that time, including a 'battlegrounds' component which allows massive player vs player team deathmatch and capture the flag style experiences. With over millions of people logging in and playing worldwide, it is interesting to note that one of the main selling points of World of Warcraft is how easy it is to initially get into, for beginners and advanced gamers alike.
In August, both myself and Matt finally
bought copies of the game each. It's not that we didn't want to play, or that we thought it wouldn't be a good game. It was more the fact that we felt we had enough things on our plate without adding an addictive MMORPG as well. Which was true. And is true.
Oh well :)
So let me begin the tale of Yug the Brave, the most fearless and handsome player to ever grace the Blizzard servers. Oh, what's that? Is that squirrel a higher level than me? Ok, well maybe just the most handsome then!
