Conclusion
We're not really going to bother concluding anything on this really. The PS3 will probably be the eventual market leader, continuing the tradition established by the Playstation and PS2, but the gap between the Xbox and the PS3 will probably not be all that big, especially in Australia which has always been pretty 'on the fence' with the PS2 vs Xbox issue, as well as not having the big market push due to a pre-Christmas rush.
The hardware that interests us most, though, is at the moment the Xbox. It's closer to market, even in Australia, and real stuff now appeals somehow more than better stuff later.
Down the track, though, things will be different. It's likely that MS will continue to walk a safe and well beaten path with the Xbox 360, improving on every aspect of gaming at present without actually doing anything truly innovative. Sony, on the other hand, will take more risks, and try more things that are a little different. We can expect to see a bit more zaniness, and a bit more crazy Japanese-ness from Sony, and that's always a good thing.
