SupaNova 2006

Yug and Matt attend the SupaNova 2006 convention in Brisbane, specifically focusing on the local game developer booths and recounting the experience.

INTRODUCTION : DAY 1 : DAY 2
Supanova is a pop culture expo that has been around since its first convention in Sydney in November 2002. It then spread to include Brisbane in September 2003, and has since been an annual event that is held at the local RNA Showgrounds.

What is a pop culture expo you might ask? It's basically a place for fans of science fiction, fantasy film and TV, comic books, anime, gaming and collectables, to come together and pretty much geek it up. It's a lot of fun, and a surprisingly non-judgemental place where dressing up as your favourite Final Fantasy character is not weird, but cool.

The main attraction for us was the section of the expo totally devoted to the local game industry, and we hoped that we might get to meet some of the people behind the games, while at the same time seeing if we might be able to get some kind of scoops prior to the upcoming E3 conference in Los Angeles.

Oh, and I wanted to meet Summer Glau (who plays River in the movie Serenity and the TV series Firefly.).

The following is an account of our time at the 2 day convention. Enjoy!
