Is MrLefty the same guy who hated The Force Unleashed because the force powers weren't as strong as in the movies?

If they're different from duck boy's, it's because you're stupid, apparently.

That's a bit of an odd thing to say, since you apparently haven't played the game yet. Which of my criticisms regarding a game you've never played do you not agree with?

Maybe I should of clarified, I've played it around a friends. On an awesome 50" HD TV 1080P biggrin.gif

Yes. Why shouldn't AG just be a fanboy forum in which no criticism is brooked and only those who love a game may comment on it? Sorry, I missed the part where contrary opinions to yours and duck boy's do not belong here.

Actually, I should of elaborated some more. How about having an argument which doesn't dissolve into meaningless insults. I'm not excusing Joabys comments, but it does not mean that you then have this right to insult others.

Because I bought this one and figure there'll be other people who'll have a similar view and might like to be warned about it before they waste their $89 on it. I'm not trying to persuade you or duck boy: I'm putting some material out there for prospective purchasers to read that I wish had been clear before I bought the thing. The only reason this has turned into an argument here is that you and the other bloke are insisting on abusing me (and here, rather than at the piece to which you both apparently object) for having a contrary opinion.

And at what point did I abuse you? Please, find a qoute and I'll happily apologise. And the ONLY reason that this has dissolved into an argument because it appears you have been unnecessarily harsh on a game.

May I also point you towards what is also better known as Constructive Criticism.

Are you honestly not enjoying the game a single bit?

You mean, because certain enemies had implausible force immunities? That was one of the reasons. The checkpoint bullshit like here was another, although here it's even less excusable because YOU CAN SAVE IN THE PC VERSION.

I know duck boy's a bit... well, I won't respond in kind, but you know how he's got this amusingly quaint notion that the xbox 360 is not a computer? And that therefore it can't do things like saves or implement similar art design to a full PC (yes, I know, that's genuinely what he thinks)? Well, and don't tell him I pointed this out to you, he's flat out wrong. None of the above are beyond a modern console. Obviously a 360 can't match a high-end PC rig for pushing polygons or managing complex simulations - but that's got nothing to do with decent palette choice or implementing a save function, which other, decent console games have all managed.

PS ducko, I know I should resist getting drawn back into your hilarious little misrepresentations of what I said, but please learn to read. The complaint regarding the dull browns, greys and greens is that they're way off what was actually advertised. Look at the screen shot comparison on the blog to see what I mean. Okay? Now back to your foaming at the mouth. It really suits you!

Sorry for the messed up comments above guys tongue.gif

And Mrlefty, can I just say I agree with you on one major point. The major graphic difference between PC and 360, otherwise I'm enjoying nicking my friends game alot.

That's not the point of the WGS site. It's constructive in the sense that it gets stuck into stupid stuff that hopefully developers will stop doing in other games. It's not constructive in the sense of making apologies for time-wasting bullshit.

As to enjoying it "a single bit" - well, yes, I did get some enjoyment out of it. Not $89 worth, though.

In any case, I've put it aside for the moment and am playing Fable 2 instead. When I've built up some more tolerance for frustrating game design, I'll give it another shot.

They haven't implemented a poor pallete, you god damn retard, the fact is the 360 cannot render lighting or draw distances or anything like a PC can. And your quicksave bullshit is still dumb - go look it up - many developers wish they could get rid of the quicksave on PCs because they feel it ruins pacing and takes the challenge from a game.

If you think any game developer is going to read WGS and think anything other than "this kid is a fucking idiot" you're even dumber than I have continuously reiterated. Have fun with your one button combat - golden path leads you by the hand - console only game. At least in that you can save anywhere you like so you can continuously reload every time your drooling makes the control pad too slippery to hold.

and having similarly coloured avatars isn't helping, even I got confused about who posted what. I think joaby is being a bit over the top with the insults when someone is just saying they don't like some of the features of the 360 version of the game.

I haven't played the game yet as I wasn't particularly astounded by the original and didn't bother checking out anything on the 2nd. Some of the features this thread has alerted me to do sound interesting, and the guy at work today said that it was fun having the open game world. he also complained about having to clear out little settlements scattered around the landscape over and over again. I also think that choosing a grey/dull green/brown colour scheme (which is NOT all that africa has to offer) is the greatest move, as the colours can affect how a much a gamer can feel entertained with the game. Dull colours can be linked to depression receptacles in our brains. Anyway I may give this game a go at a mates place, but I don't think it's going to be as great as f3 will be, nor midnight club LA!

Also on jae's african muggers post, the train lines actually have guards at 500m intervals armed with spas12's to help combat train robberies. My uncle had to train some... well, train drivers over there. Sent back heaps of photos of these crazy go nuts armed guards and the guns he got to get over there. He is also a deer hunter so he likes guns.

Alright, alright, no more mocking his ridiculous pseudonym. Henceforth I'll just refer to him gently as "the resident basket-case".

No, no, I won't do that either. You're right. Personal abuse has no place here. Who wants to read a bunch of anonymous gamers abusing each other on the internet?

Not only that, but I fear for the safety of the people around him if I upset the psychotic fanboy any further.

Actually, I really should stop this. Biggest weakness (online, anyway) - having a real problem walking away from stupid internet fights.

But the standard advice is true - what do I care that this Claude fellow thinks my opinion "invalid" and "stupid" and "retarded" and a host of other not in any way offensively aggressive terms. I don't know what his beef is, whether someone disparaged his favourite game as a kid and his parents took it away from him as a result, or maybe someone robbed him at knifepoint and made him watch them play a game which had quicksaves whilst he was tied up, or who the hell knows. Point is, it doesn't matter, and I'm almost as foolish as he is for getting drawn into this.

Here's another attempt to stop. Will it be successful? I guess that depends on whether Claude comes back with another comment so idiotic I can't resist retorting. MUST... STOP... TYPING...

I've said a bunch of times what my beef with you is. You're writing a blog designed to be advice for consumers (by your own description) and the advice you are giving is terrible. On top of that, because you were dropped on your head or something you openly welcome the current trend of all games to become two minute colourful three gem games - an idea I find (as a gamer and a jobless freak) to be absolutely abhorrent and something many others will find the same.

See, that's vaguely worth replying to, as you're addressing some specific issues. Good for you!

I have never called for games "to become two minute colourful three gem games". Sorry, are you calling Far Cry 2 on PC (which does have quick saves) a "two minute colourful three gem game"?

I'm simply asking for the console version not to lack major features available in the PC version. Certainly not without making it very clear that this is the case.

Now you may be a "jobless freak" (in your words) with plenty of time on your hands. Many of us - and many of the people the games industry should court, since we actually have incomes with which to buy games - have less time to waste and are not enthusiastic about spending it repeatedly traversing the same terrain because layabouts like you get some kind of misplaced sense of pride from finding your way to the end nevertheless.

You seem to see games as some kind of macho endurance test, and that anyone looking for something else is wrong and stupid and to be mocked. In Far Cry 2, for example, I was looking for a sandbox experience, where I could explore an interesting living world and engage in interesting firefights. And my complaint with FC2 is that a number of unnecessary design decisions worked against those, or at made them tedious and unenjoyable. You may disagree, but that doesn't make the objections "invalid".

And nowhere on WGS does it pretend to be a review site. In fact, it clearly announces at the top that it is NOT a review site. The purpose is to highlight what I see as design flaws. People can agree or disagree (and hopefully discuss the issue there at the post in question, rather than filling up the AG forums with it), but those are problems which bother me. And I doubt I'm alone. I'd hazard a guess I've been playing games for just as long (or longer) than you and am just as much a customer the games industry ought to listen to as you.

You are not the only person who is entitled to an opinion.

Joabs

Sorry to jump into your blue Joabs, but this bloke is driving me nuts and I cant keep quiet any more.

The above quotes show you what can happen when cousins fuck and have children.

lefty

How quickly things change, you take the high moral ground in the first couple of replies and then degrade yourself to abuse in the majority of what followed. This only serves to detract from the rest of your weak as piss points.

It’s not Claude’s opinion on the game that upset your little world, it was the fact that he called you out for the clearly substandard content of your blog.

I’d have to say it’s been a while since I got to read such an uninspired, vapid, humorless rant by an obviously talentless hack. I think Barry actually talked up your blog when he described it as “full of adolescent whine”.
