Counterstrike 1.6 Tournament
During the running of the Gears of War tournament, I was able to do a lot of scouting around and took many great photo’s. I watched Team Immunity, a reputable team in Australian Counterstrike, as they played in the finals against Sequential Gaming. Having played a limited amount of CS myself, these guys were simply freaks.
"C’mon man, seriously. Look up Girls Gone Wild later will you? We’re getting smashed here!"
I managed to get some snaps of the various booths the CS players were at, and through some scouting have also got the bracket play of the CS tournament. Immunity were the team to watch for most of the competition. With superior team work and a high level of skill, they simply broke some of the opposition teams in half and I was quite amazed when they eventually got done by Sequential Gaming in the finals.
Immunity had no antibodies against the viral attacks of Sequential Gaming. See what I did there? Man, I need to work on my caption humour…

Warcraft 3 Tournament
The Warcraft 3, whilst not the greatest spectator sport, was also fairly interesting to me. The ironic thing in competitive RTS is not how quickly the player uses the mouse, but how quickly the player uses the keyboard. Indeed, the competitors would probably use a 70 / 30 split of keyboard to mouse. I found this an amazing thing to watch.
The competitors faced off in Warcraft 3 DOTA, and the games, although not fast in comparison to the FPS’s around them, were definitely moving along at a quicker than average pace compared to the casual gamer.
Just the way players established a working economy, and had at their disposal huge armies which was all done in the shortest space of time was scary. I’m very glad I never came across any of these guys in my casual forays into Warcraft 3.
