Gamerthon Interview - Tona from Altech

Tona Ivanathong, in conjunction with Altech, have sought to support the competitive gaming community for the last several years.

Supplying fantastic hardware and helping to encourage LAN events, the corporate support from those like Tona help LAN events to really get off the ground, as their state of the art systems allow every player and team to be on a level playing field.





Tona: What I do with Altech is I’m the marketing and gaming co-ordinator. So what I do is events, such as WCG, GAME1 etc as Altech is a strong supporter of the gaming community.


Tona: Well it gives us an opportunity to promote our brand and our products to the general public, so it’s great advertising for us.



Tona: We’re looking at continuing our support of the gaming community. We know that gaming in Australia is growing quite large, although it is not as large as Asia or the U.S. yet. So we’re trying to help support these types of events in an effort to help the community grow with our support.


Tona: Opportunity wise, yet again there is a branding opportunity. It also allows us to help promote new gaming products. My boss is also a big gamer, and he like to outsource the hardware to put together extreme gaming systems.


Tona: Yeah, we have been looking in the past year and have had a few teams enquiring. We’re finding that there are some amateur teams that we’re looking at supporting and the really good teams, we just don’t know what to do in terms of budget, but we are definitely looking at it.


Tona: The interaction from the end user, the feedback that we get so we can pass it back to our team and anywhere possible improve and create new products.



Tona: PC games are great and all, but I’m a big Street Fighter gamer. I love the arcades!
