Mass Effect: Bring Down the Sky - Quick Review
News from Oracle - March 12th @ 8:48pm
Most of you probably remember a while ago that BioWare announced they were bringing out a mission pack for their latest critically acclaimed RPG game, Mass Effect. I happened to download the latest pack from Xbox Live which is available for a steal at only 400 MS points. So what do I think?
Bring Down the Sky is roughly 250MB and will bring another hour and a half of joy to Mass Effect. Although it may not sound long it’s definitely a must download if you happened to really enjoy the game or were even crazy enough to play the game through twice to whore up a 100 gamer points.
As soon as you load the game after downloading the pack you’ll notice a new system named ‘Asgard’ available from your navigation map, you will need to land on Asteroid X57 to begin your mission. It starts off by Shepherd receiving a stress call from a scientist called Katie Bowman. She informs you that Batarian terrorists have taken over their lab and are threatening to destroy Terra Nova by nudging the asteroid into the planet where four million humans call home.
Once the mission loaded I was dropped off by the Normandy in my Mako, this brought back some great memories. Although getting used to the controls we’re a pain in the ass again. There are two missions available on the asteroid. One is to rescue the hostages (where Katie is held) and the other is a side mission to find missing scientists around the rock. As you work through the missions more secrets are revealed about the scientists work as well as the terrorist group. Depending how your choices add up you are also given a very juicy boss fight.
Bring Down the Sky is short yet very sweet. It’s not surprising of BioWare to throw in some great dialogue and combat to satisfy the gamer. Purchasing this mission pack for 400 points you can’t go wrong. I only wish for BioWare to have more downloadable missions available for Mass Effect in the near future.
