The F Word and the Wii
News from Cav - August 17th @ 11:08am
An article recently showed up in the
Herald Sun Online where the
Australian Family Association (who I think are in need of a drastic website redesign) put forward their views on the upcoming game MadWorld,
which I reported on a few weeks ago with a large smattering of sarcasm , and what the Wii is all about.
I was quite intrigued to find out that "The hugely successful Nintendo Wii has so far been seen as a family-friendly game system, with games such as tenpin bowling and tennis" - Well yes I suppose it has... if you only bought the console and nothing else. Mrs Conway, from the AFA also states “The realism in the players' movements in the Wii format should be raising concerns about the impact of the game-playing on the player." I don’t understand? I play Golf on Wii Sports and I have Tiger 08, but I still suck out on the fairways.
Contrary to what I reported on MadWorld earlier (for those who couldn't smell the sarcasm), I
do want to play this game and I
do want to own this game. Why? Because since joining the AG Team, I have come to realise just how much is put into making a game. These combined efforts are put in by regular, everyday people, such as yourselves, some of which HAVE FAMILIES. No income for these families through failure of games? No one eats. No one has a roof over their head.
I still wish I had a dollar for every time I have said this, but I am a Gamer and a Parent. I still use the Parental Lock Out on my consoles and Pay TV. I am absolutely sick to death of games being blamed for bad parenting - It's time to find a new scapegoat for stupidity, people.
