EXTREME lan

News from George - November 20th @ 9:30am

xtreme LAN Sixteen
22-23 November, 2008
Building 60, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, Australia

So I was asked about an event last night. Sorry rather, I was actively being bribed in to attending a event last night.

I'm unsure why some of my particular friends want me to go, as the only computer I can bring with me is a Mac. Sure I can borrow someone's PC and drag that along with me. But all of you being gamers already know, borrowing another gamers’ precious customized 'PC is too much trouble that it's worth.

Don't get me wrong here. I was a heavy lan for a long time. I just have a Mac computer now at home.. And well. Unless I they have Lego Star Wars, Chess Master, or COD2 at this lan, there's no point bringing my laptop.

But I'm getting off the point again. Which is EXTREME LAN.

This is a EXTREME lan comp held every year in Melbourne. It's BYO, of course. But besides it being a PC gaming comp, there's also a large Cricket match held outside, pool table, relaxation room (???, and maybe a few girls to hit on.

I am unsure what the comps are this year, but I can tell you the Large Organized Games are as follows; Battlefield 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Age of Empires, Warcraft 3, CS:Source, Need For Speed Underground 2, Act of War, Call of Duty and Quake 4. Ohh Battlefield 2. Well I can't "ooh' over it as I haven't played it yet. But if I go I will jump in on that action.

As far as registering for those games, to quote right off the website, the games "Are organized for as many people as we can convince to play the game"

So hmm. A big lan event in Melbourne. Although in a icky Suburb, it should be good. It's a great chance to mingle with people... While sitting on a chair, with noise blocking headphones, only paying attention to your screen. Come along guys, srsly.

This is the 16th EXTREME LAN, and while the photos don't do it justice, it is said to be a very fun event.

Registration here (or just show up on the day)

Sorry I have to credit the photo of the gamer on fire to FIREFLY on the forums, to prevent him from telling everyone in a post that he did it. There you go Jordan:P
