Live from 48hr IGDA Game Making Challenge

News from Yug - Friday, 03 October 2008 @ 5:32pm

I'm now reporting LIVE from the IGDA 48 Hour Game Making Challenge here at the QUT Creative Industries building at QUT Kelvin Grove, here in sunny Brisbane, QLD. Well, now I've set the scene, I should mention that I'm quite impressed with the turnout here this year. There's 14 teams competiting this year, up from the 4 last year, and it includes 2 national teams from AIE Canberra. The teams must create a fully functional game within the 48 hour time limit (that kicked off about 2 hours ago), based around 3 key words that were provided thanks to Souri from Sumea.
I'm here with Mik Dobele from Halfbrick who has agreed to film the entire thing, so we should get around to all the teams and interview them at some point over the weekend. I'll be here until 8am this morning, when Simon will take over from 8am Saturday to 8am Sunday, then Phil will tag team in for the rest of Sunday up until the BBQ Sunday afternoon where the judges will decide the winner!

I'm actually REALLY hungry though, and we're going to go get some food, so I'll post another update later tonight.

You can watch live feeds of the event here at the QUT Campus as well as one here at AIE in Canberra.

Myself and Mik Dobele all excited about the madness to follow

Yahtzee looking happy as usual, along with Mark Fludder from Queensland Games

The teams have set them up and await the keywords
