FEAR 2 Refused Classification
News from Matt - Wednesday, 26 November 2008 @ 10:03pm
I have just heard that FEAR 2 has been refused classification in Australia.
There's not much more to say to it than that. No details are available on what exactly it was banned for. Probably the usual - being an adult product in a market that is only allowed to cater to children.
This ridiculous and offensive state of affairs will continue indefinitely as far as I can see.

Blood spray and dismemberment for everyone!
Horror shooter F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin has been cleared for Australian release in February by the Classification Review Board.
The game was refused classification in late November, but publisher Warner Bros Interactive successfully appealed the decision yesterday. No changes to the game have been made.
The Classification Board originally ruled that the "high impact" of the game's violence exceeded the MA15+ category, effectively banning the game from sale because of the lack of an R18+ rating in this country.
In the Classification Board's report, mention was made of elements like close range decapitations, copious blood spray, dismembered corpses and weapons like nail guns.
But Mark Aubrey, Marketing Manager for Warner Bros Interactive, told Screen Play today that he was always confident that the game "fit comfortably" within the guidelines of an MA15+ rating and Warner Bros was "very pleased" with the Review Board's decision.

That FEAR 2 would be reclassified for Australia was a given. That it took a simple review by the Classification Review Board rather than the edit-resubmit process we're all too familiar with is a bit of a pleasant surprise.
Although not all hope is lost. At the end of that article, the head of Warner Bros. Interactive confirmed they would be appealing the decision: "There's a massive fan base here in Australia and around the world for F.E.A.R. and we're going to exhaust all the avenues that we can to get it out."
So, what's gonna be chopped off? Or, rather, not chopped off?
Warner Bros has appealed and the descision is to be reviewed on the 15/12/08

well, I dunno what the original one was like, but like I said, I've got a few mates who have studied chemical engineering, who have read through bits of it and said that it's pretty accurate for someone who wants to blow shit up.
I mean, there's even a section that studies different bridge designs, and tells you where you would place a bomb on a bridge to do the most structural damage
So according to "The Board" people in games should all be superman, and all logical physics should be thrown out the window in favor of a more fictional type of reality
