I Just Want to Sit Down and Play Across the Table
News from Brett - Wednesday, 01 July 2009 @ 3:53pm
So Starcraft II has no LAN multiplayer, as revealed by Rob Pardo from Blizzard in an interview a couple of days ago:
Sign the petition or whatever seems right to you...
"We don’t have any plans to support LAN,” he said and clarified “we will not support it." The only multiplayer available will be on Battle.net."
Apparently, if it's going to be included, it'll be different with the technology incorporated into Battle.Net tech somehow. So is it really no LAN play or just a bit of miscommunication? I guess we'll be kept on our toes until some more clarification comes across. The other two in the interview, Chris Sigaty and Dustin Browder didn't have a clear answer though... Link is above if you want to read the whole thing, but it's not promising.

No LAN is a horrible decision. Starcraft is a game that needs pretty much no lag. Stupid Blizzard. Once again they ruin peoples lives (WoW much?)
At now we will be able to have some fun and find out who is the best programmer by seeing who comes out with a LAN patch/mod first :3.
im sure making a mod for a game to play lan when it isnt designed too would be a lot harder then a one day crack fix
but we can hope
It may be like steam, as in you have to sign in online to play lan, however steam lets you do offline mode (once a] you have previously signed in online and b] the game you want to play is up to date)
then again it might be fucked and everyone will stick to starcraft 1 for lans.
i guarantee this will happen first day.
yes and i really fucking freaked that brett made an actual post that ...was news worthy
If there is no LAN available out of the box, I'm sure someone will make a patch or program that will allow it
