L4D2 appeal refused classification we get gypped version only

God damn I want to move out of this country. The OFLC has rated the full version of Left 4 Dead 2 today and refused classification again. A three-member panel of the Classification Review Board had unanimously decided it's fate stating "In the Review Board’s opinion, Left 4 Dead 2 could not be accommodated within the MA 15+ classification. The computer game contains a level of violence which is high in impact, prolonged, repeated frequently and realistic within the context of the game. In addition, it was the Review Board’s opinion that there was insufficient delineation between the depiction of general zombie figures and the human figures, as opposed to the clearly fictional ‘infected’ characters. This was a major consideration of the Review Board in determining the impact of this game on minors." Clearly all three of these panel members never saw Ninja Gaiden II, Gears of War or most of the Resident Evil titles. Noticing the statement has a phone number and address we can always hurl abuse at the OFLC. Mind you they're just located in Haymarket (Chinatown) which is down the road from me so if you buy me a bunch of eggs I'll make sure they go rotten before they hit a so called 'panel member". I say we dress up zombie style and pile up on each other infront of the OFLC office. Lets see how many under 15's they can shelter from that.

I'll probs get it for PC and hope that a crack group or someone makes a patch which makes it original ![]()
Unfortunately he's in a safe seat so isn't likely to be going anywhere, the best you can hope for is that Labor loses the state election or there's a reshuffle of positions and he's no longer Attorney General. Even in those situations we still run the risk of him being replaced with someone even worse.
That's very true. It's not like the Liberal Party support an R18 rating. The Greens do, though.
So we're left with two burning questions:
1. Will there be a patch to fix the game? (Can someone with contacts ask Valve?)
2. Will the import copy work in Australia? (Can someone with contacts ask Valve?)

I hate it everytime the words "the impact of this game on minors" get used to refuse classification on a game that is clearly designed for those considered adults in the general sense. I guess even thou those over 18 years old are allowed to smoke, drink and drive; we aren't "mature" enough to be considered adults in the gaming market
Yeah, Chainsawing humanoids in half would have no impact really on minors...thats why the board let Gears 2 through.
Though this whole debacle brought Benjamin Franklin to mind...
"Those who sacrifice a little liberty for a little security deserve neither, and will lose both"
Seem Michael Atkinson thinks that we can stand to lose liberty, in the form of being able to choose what we play, for a little 'percieved' security for the children.
I hope he loses all his liberty, then loses the the security of his seat in South Australian Parliament.
Jackass.
