He finally thought of the children
Despite winning his election (Gamers 4 Croydon only gained about 1% of the vote), Atkinson has decided that amount of trouble his position has brought him isn't worth the effort anymore - and it's not just the R18+ debacle that has brought him down. He's also had trouble trying to bring in a law that would censor people from using "Fake" names online. That one backfired when his example of a Liberal sock puppet turned out to be a real person living in his constituency.
So while G4C may not have won their seat, they still seemed to have managed to achieve one of their aims. Let's hope the new Attorney General sees reason and the R18 debate can be put to rest.

Colour me hypocritical, but it's most certainly not over. God knows who will become SA's new Attorney General, and god knows if all the other AG's will actually even decide R18+ is a good thing. Remember, last time there was "meant" to be discussion about it, our pal Atkinson simply blocked the talk and so no votes or even discussion was made on it.
For all we know, we're going to have 3 or so AG's to try and convince.
But at least there's a higher chance we'll move forward somewhere with Atkinson out.
Try not to look at it like that. I see it as something good and if this new person were to be just like Atkinson they would get a bit of backlash, but the odds of that happening are less likely to happen. So try and stay positive.
Also every time I time I read this thread I think of the part in the "Wizard of Oz" when the house lands on the witch.
I want to be excited but am too cynical to think this will mean a change anytime soon.

Horray! When I heard this I did a good old jump in the air with my fist raised high. This is fantastic news.
I vote Matt... He keeps up the paedophile looks of Atkinson and won't be afraid to berate someone into his way of thinking like Yug would be. Yug is just too nice =P
Yes but when Yug inevitably abuses his power its funny, like suddenly every friday is pancake and whiskey at work day... with all due respect, when Matt abuses power, thats a sign of the apocolypse...
