PS3 Mod stick banned
News from Jae - Saturday, 04 September 2010 @ 2:34pm
The Australian Federal Court has decided to put a permanent ban on the sale and distribution of the PSJailbreak USB stick that enables HDD bootable games which essentially opens the gates to piracy.
Sony was successful in a temporary stop of sale that lasted till the end of August. It seems their super lawyers have managed to get the thing banned indefinitely. All retailers that have taken orders have to cancel them, hand over all stock as well as pay for the legal fees involved. Super lawyers aren't cheap either.
Something tells me if this was software distributed there would be difficulty in bringing any court orders into play (much like the flash mods for Xbox 360s and PSPs).
Piracy is bad, Australia seems to be tough on the rule with many court proceedings taking place over the year. We've had a man charged over distributing Super Mario Bros Wii over the net as well as the ban of R4 Nintendo DS cards.

Same thing applies to R4's. You'd be surprised how hypocritical people can be.
I'm not :\ I don't jailbreak, use an R4, or anything :\ The worst I do is download shows aired in America, but I buy them on dvd as soon as I can

I *love* when customers come into the store asking for help with their R4 cards. Most of them aren't even aware that piracy is illegal. Am I a sadist because I like to tell people off?
