The Herd's new music video shot entirely with Kinects
News from Sarge - Monday, 02 May 2011 @ 12:05pm
For those that have been paying attention, I love my Aussie hip-hop, so when I heard this story, you know it was something I just had to jump onto.
The Herd, arguably one of the most respected and hardest working hip-hop outfits in the country are well known for exploring new territory with their music, but now they're pushing new boundaries with their music videos. The big difference is that this clip was shot entirely using hacked xbox Kinect cameras.
The visual are quite different to what you'd probably expect too. The song itself deals with themes of giving up your own identity, so the style is quite fitting with what's going on lyrically, and rolling bass-heavy beat in the background matches even better, reminiscent of all those Windows Media Player style screen-effects.
I'll hopefully be chatting with The Herd a bit later on to discuss the making of this video and their new upcoming album, with a competition to give away some sweet prizes. For now, check out the video for yourself:
