Is THQ Going Bye Bye?
News from Tom - Tuesday, 17 January 2012 @ 10:31am
If you follow anyone involved with the game industry on Twitter, you may have read something about the closure of THQ, the cancellation of Dark Millennium Online and a very poor share price. THQ Australia has now come out and said that all is well (except the stocks).
We can all give a sigh of relief. Or can we? The spiel is a bit ambiguous regarding the MMO (we all know it's Dark Millennium) and it's recognised that THQ has been going through a rough patch.
It then continues:
While that sounds hunky-dory, this chart tells otherwise (I blame Homefront). Personally, I'd hate it if THQ was planning to sell itself off. They own the rights to Company of Heroes, Homeworld and the Games Workshop licence. Still, the potential ruination of the 40k universe by DMO may be averted.
Be alert for updates, as I'm sure this isn't over yet.

Their market cap is just under 50 million which is probably the same as a lot of AAA game budgets these days.
Thq Australia just made 14 employees redundant!

Looks like someone made a pile of cash short selling THQ stock.
With some of the recent aquisitions THQ of made this is likely just false. Anyway any licences/projects that THQ had that anybody cares about would get picked up by another dev/publisher if this were true anyway.
