Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep
Review from Starks - Friday, 30 April 2010 @ 3:26pm

Genre: Adventure
Release: 27 February 2010
Developer: Arika
Starks takes a dip in the ocean for Endless Ocean 2. Sadly, the water was very cold and he couldn't get out quick enough.
Quite often I will review a game which makes me question exactly why I have bothered. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty was one of those. Endless Ocean 2, however, claims the throne for dumbest game I have ever, ever played.
Let me frame what the basis is. Scuba-diving in the South Pacific ocean, where you are studying folk lore and end up investigating the story of the ‘Song of Dragons’. During this time, you will feed fish, calmly swim through various ruins and run away from Goblin Sharks.
That’s about the premise of this game. Several hours in, I was a just about ready to throw the disc out the window before I decided that no, I needed a new drink coaster.
Frankly, if Endless Ocean 2 had a bit more of this it would be heaps better:
Or, you know, if something like this was involved in the game:
But then it would have been exciting.
This, to me, is where I pose the question – What is the point of this game? Sure, you have to find out the secret of the Song of Dragons and you get a good idea of marine biology, but otherwise I’m finding a distinct lack of purpose for any of it. There’s no intrigue, there’s no real skill involved, and there’s an extreme lack of excitement in here.
Add to this possibly some of the worst scripting and sappy acting within a game I’ve ever come across and you have the recipe for 2010’s Worst Game.
The only way I could bring myself to write this review was to spice it up with footage of Great White Sharks cause, y'know, they're fricken awesome. And will help make even the worst review half decent. That's a lesson I learnt from Joaby. At least, I think I did. If not, then whoever I was drinking with the other week did a good impersonation of the J-man.
There’s not much more I can say about Endless Ocean 2 and most definitely not anything nice. So I’m going to finish off with something that will at least make reading this review more worthwhile:
Summary
Don't buy it. In fact, if you buy it after I've given you this warning, I'm going to punch you in the arm.
Pros
It doesn't take long to work out the game is terrible, hence preventing any further waste in time. The disc makes a good coaster for your coffee table. There is a pretty cool Goblin Shark in it.
Cons
I just find no point to this game. Terrible in game acting, useless story, lack of excitement - Frankly, this should be a case study of what NOT to do when making a game.
