Red Dead Redemption

I love playing video games. And I love drinking. So you would think by combining these two aspects of my life into something that sustains me professionally would be a dream come true.

And it is ... but an unexpected side effect is that I have very little time to pursue these two passions properly anymore. Well, the drinking part is easier, but gaming has been marginalised to the multiplayer games at the Mana Bar. Which doesn’t leave much room for the type of games I truly love – the single player story driven cinematic experiences.

So when it finally came time to play one of my most anticipated games of the year (read my two previews), I didn’t want to smash through it. I wanted to come home after a long shift at the bar, sit down, chill out, and enjoy it. I wonder how I would have felt playing Red Dead Redemption if I forced myself to smash through it in a weekend, as is the way with professional game reviewers.

Fortunately, I’m as far removed from a professional as you could imagine.

With that in mind, I’d like to introduce you to Drunk Yug’s Review of Red Dead Redemption.

Pros

A beautiful cinematic experience that creates an authentic representation of a time period that we don't see often in video games these days; expansive and interesting world to explore, fantastic story arc, Jose Gonzalex

It's a big world to explore - will take you quite some time, difficult to ride a horse while intoxicated
