L4D2 DOA?

Early reports from retailers suggest Left 4 Dead 2, brilliantly named sequel to Left 4 Dead, is enjoying solid sales. Which is a problem because they are completely fucked, and the return rate is verging close to 100%.
I'm not sure which platform this is limited to, PC or 360, but it's a dire situation if true. The figure we were told is 97% return rate, which is oddly specific. This was backed up by another source. We'll have more information on this soon, and I'm sure our forums will be buzzing with nerdrage if there is a problem like this.
Let's just pretend I inserted a lolcat "epic fail" pic. You know I could have, and I know I could have, and we can just agree that it should have been done, without me actually bothering to go look for one, OK?
Edit: a call to a local EB store gave me a confused retailer stating that he hasn't seen a single copy returned. Seems to me this one is bunk.

The sad thing is, even with the full copy it's going to be almost impossible to find Australian matches on Live.
Why not just Hamachi/GameRanger LAN them? I haven't as yet tried it out, but I would assume there would be no problems as I'm yet to encounter any with any other games.

Yeah, I was using the 510 thing yesterday morning no problem, but yesterday afternoon - no go (Steam authentication error).
The no gore version is ... dissapointing to say the least.
