Despite struggling with video editing problems, uploading issues, and a bunch of other problems, Matt finally achieves a second video review uploaded. Responding to popular requests he also appears in the video. WARNING: Ugly dude in HD! You may want to avert your eyes.

Summary

Very much in the Burnout Takedown vibe of driving games Split Second Velocity is a triumph of fun, substance can be lacking if you have enough style to make up for it. I must admit I didn't play this one online at all, but I think it would be pretty good with real people.

Pros

Great fun, survival mode is a highlight, some really cool setpieces, graphics are amazing, some nice variety to the experience due to the changing track layouts, cunning traps.

Cons

Tracks and powerplays are both routinely reused, giving a bit of a "samey" feel after a while. Little replay value because of this.

Just on a technical note, it looks like the video was only encoded with mono sound in the left speaker. It was weird hearing your voice coming from the left side only when you were well and truly in front of me.

Just seconding this note, since I spent a good portion of the review trying to work out why it sounded funny with my earphones. Technical issues can take a lot away from the review.

That said, I heavily appreciate that you are trying to get more into Video Reviews since they generally appeal to a broader e-audience...and my attention span.

Only complaint (aside from the technical point): The moments where you weren't talking but just showing gameplay felt a bit awkward. They did feel like a break between paragraphs, but generally since you were speaking on top of the gameplay footage a large majority of the time anyway, when the gameplay footage suddenly had you not speaking it felt "quiet".

It could be of course that gameplay footage looked incredibly repetitive since it's a repetitive game anyway, and there aren't exactly a lot of decent "soundbytes" to show.

These are all presentation notes though. I found the review itself great.

Great review, it's good to see an informative review combined with humour.

hahaha, i love that the thing that seems to shit you the most is the punctuation of the title :P

Unlike certain other video reviewers, who seem to care as little as possible about punctuation.
