Matt takes a crack at a video review, a very late take (explained in the video) on Uncharted 3, one of the biggest releases for the PS3 in 2011. The previous game, Among Thieves, was his Game of the Year for 2009. Can this new title live up to expectations?

Summary

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is probably veering a little too far away from being a game and too much towards being a film at this point. Some balance needs to be restored, giving control back to the player instead of making them an inconvenience. The humour also needs work. It was a strong point in U2:Among Thieves, but is largely absent here.

Pros

  • Excellent set-pieces
  • Dramatic, sweeping vistas
  • Amazing graphics
  • Still a pretty OK story for a game
  • Playing a young Drake is fun

Cons

  • Major death bug happened to me
  • Movement can be stilted
  • Stealth elements very underused
